"Blank Space" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift for her fifth studio album, 1989 (2014). It was written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback. The song was released to contemporary hit radio by Big Machine Records on November 10 2014 as the album's second single, after "Shake It Off". It is the second track on the album, after "Welcome to New York" and it is one of the three songs to have a voice memo version included in the deluxe version of the album.

"Blank Space" is an electropop song with influences of minimal pop. Many critics compared the song to the works of fellow singer-songwriter Lorde. It makes fun of Swift's recent exposure in the media about her dating life, portraying "an overly attached man-eater who dates for songwriting material" as herself. The song was written by Swift along with Martin and Shellback, and produced by the latter two. Swift's vocals range from A3 to C5, and is in the key of F major.

The accompanying music video was directed by Joseph Kahn who said that Swift approached him with the idea for the treatment, saying she was all too aware of the jokes made about all of her ex boyfriends and how she likes to include them in her songwriting. She told him that she wanted to address the general thought of her in the clip in a fun way by playing a crazy villain. The video was shot over three days in September at two different Long Island locations; 12 hours in day one, 18 hours in day two and 10 hours for filming the American Express Unstaged app. Most of the scenes depicting Swift were filmed at Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York, while some of the interior scenes were shot at the Woolworth Mansion. After two days of filming with Swift, a second unit crew kept going, taking much of the photography and that would later be used to construct the world within the American Express Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience app. The video borrows inspiration from Steven Spielberg's early works and was partly inspired by A Clockwork Orange. Kahn explained, "There’s a lot of symmetrical framing that’s Kubrickian, which is a really funny way to approach a pop video. But it’s there if you look at the way there’s center-framing and symmetry throughout the whole thing," Swift's love interest in the video is portrayed by model Sean O'Pry.
The video accidentally leaked on Yahoo! on November 10, 2014. Kahn tweeted about the accidental early release, "I'll link video later when I think it's clear. I think it may be a mistake on yahoo's part — they may have released it early by accident." To which he later added, "Yup. Yahoo effed up. Wait to see the Blank Space video. Let Taylor introduce it herself. It'll be worth it :)"

The song topped the Hot Digital Songs charts with sales of 155,000 copies in its first week, making it the third song from 1989 to reach number 1 on the Hot Digital Songs, becoming Swift's ninth number one on that chart. Swift stood at rank three as the artist with the most number-one Digital Songs tying her with Eminem and surpassed Rihanna for the most number-one debuts. The song debuted at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.[19] On its second week the song sold 164,000 copies (up 5%) and moved up to number 13 at the Hot 100 being the Airplay Gainer.

In New Zealand, it debuted at number 26. On its third week the song jumped from number 33 to number four, becoming Swift's sixth top five hit in New Zealand. In Australia, it debuted at number twenty nine on the Australian Singles Chart, before reaching number 2 on November

"Anaconda" is a song by American rapper Nicki Minaj, from her upcoming third studio album, The Pinkprint (2014). It was released on August 4, 2014 by Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Republic Records as the second single from the album. Production for the track was handled by Polow Da Don and Da Internz. "Anaconda" peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, consequently becoming Minaj's highest charting single in the United States to date.

On August 4, 2014, producer Polow da Don claimed the "Anaconda" instrumental was originally referenced to fellow female rapper and musician Missy Elliott, but was scrapped and then re-recorded by Minaj. However, on August 24, 2014, Elliott revealed to fans and followers via her Twitter account that Polow's recollections were untrue and additionally confirmed that she never received the alleged instrumental. The cover art for the single went viral on the web after being revealed. On various digital music stores, the cover art is censored with the Parental Advisory label over her buttocks. The song heavily samples "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-Lot.

"Booty" is a song recorded by American entertainer Jennifer Lopez for her eighth studio album, A.K.A. (2014). It was written and produced by Cory Rooney, Lopez, and Benny Medina, with additional writing from Chris Brown, Asia Bryant, Pitbull, Diplo, Lewis D. Gittus, Tedra Renee Wilson, and Danny Omerhodic. "Booty" samples "Dat a Freak", a song by Diplo & Swick, and it features Lopez's frequent collaborator Pitbull. "Booty" was released as the third single from the record in September 2014.

Initially entitled "Big Booty", the song was first rejected by Lopez who didn't like the idea of having a song with a title like that. However, after playing the demo for her kids, they enjoyed the track and later Lopez was convinced to record the track; eventually becoming only "Booty". The song is a dance track, with middle eastern vibe, while its lyrics portrait Lopez inviting girls to the dancefloor to have a good time and dance, while shaking their "booty".

"Booty" was first premiered during a listening party Lopez threw for critics, later she performed a snippet of the track during a concert and eventually premiered it full at an Orchard Beach concert. The song received generally favorable reviews from music critics, with many complimenting the song's fun nature, the dance environment and Pitbull's appearance, but a few dismissed the song's concept. "Booty" has been performed numerous times, including on Good Morning America. A one-minute teaser clip for the track was released on June 13, 2014, and it features Lopez and a group of women twerking.

In 2011, Jennifer Lopez released her long-awaited seventh studio album, Love?. The album was met with mixed reception from critics and had a moderate impact on the charts. However, the album spawned her most successful single to date, "On the Floor", which topped more than twenty national single charts. In March 2012, Lopez released "Dance Again", the lead-single from her first greatest hits album, Dance Again... The Hits (2012). After her seven-month Dance Again World Tour, Lopez started writing and recording new songs for an upcoming album. On March 22, 2013, Lopez posted an image of herself, American recording artist Chris Brown and long-time producer Cory Rooney in a recording studio, indicating that they were collaborating on material for the album. Later, the singer confirmed the collaboration, saying, "We were in the studio writing songs and getting that whole 'Jenny from the Block' flavour back on. We actually worked on a bunch of ideas and we talked about doing a duet together for his album."

Later, Lopez received a demo of a song called "Big Booty", produced by Diplo, and was encouraged to record the track, with everybody indicating that it was the type of track she needed to do. However, Lopez claimed: "Never in my life will I do a song called 'Big Booty', it would never happen," explaining that she felt it was going to be a joke and the album was very important. After some reluctance, Lopez ended up writing the track and played the demo in her car to see if it would work. While playing some tracks in her car, with her twins, Lopez stated that they instantly loved that the track: "As soon as they heard 'Big Booty' they went crazy. They loved this song and because of that I recorded it," she admitted. During a brunch where she debuted multiple songs from A.K.A., Lopez spoke of the track, saying: "I didn't allow myself to be put in a box. On this album, I did all of it. This is who I am and i have to embrace all of that and be as honest as I can be."

"Amnesia" is a song recorded by Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer, taken from their self-titled debut album 5 Seconds of Summer (2014). The song was announced as a new single during a live stream by the band on July 1, 2014, and was released to American contemporary hit radio as the third single from the album on 15 July 2014.

A lyric video was produced for the song. Filmed in Los Angeles, it was posted on the official VEVO YouTube channel of the band on July 2, 2014, at midnight, after their live stream. The video, in black and white, focuses on a bedroom, though in some scenes the members of the band appear in a close up. During the whole video the lyrics are projected in the room or on the members' faces.

A music video was also filmed, in which the band members and some girls and boys play around in several different scenes, diving into a pool fully clothed, playing golf on cars, etc. There are also several close-ups of the band-members singing along to the words of the song throughout the video.

"Leave the Night On" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer Sam Hunt. It is his first release for MCA Nashville.

Matt Bjorke of Roughstock reviewed the single favorably, saying that "There will be some who see 'Leave The Light On' as nothing but another 'Bro' song but to me, it feels much different. Yes, it’s about hanging out and having a good time with a girl you like under the moonlight, but it uses that theme as a vehicle to deliver a seriously strong debut single". Taste of Country also reviewed the song favorably, with their review saying that "Lyrically ‘Leave the Night On’ is thematically similar to some of the most popular country songs but that doesn’t mean Hunt has stopped pushing the boundaries of traditional country music just yet. Perhaps the most unique aspect of Hunt’s talent, what distinguishes him from other new artists, is his polished, hip-hop inspired cadence." Giving it a "B", Kevin John Coyne of Country Universe said that "I feel like I’ve heard this song so many times before that the artist has to work extra hard just to even keep my attention. Sam Hunt works pretty hard to do that. Not as a vocalist, mind you. But as a songwriter, which is what’s put him on the map in the first place."

Native is the third studio album by American band OneRepublic. It was released on March 22, 2013 in Germany and Ireland, March 25 worldwide except North America, and March 26 in North America. The album was originally planned to be released at the end of 2012, with the lead single being "Feel Again", released on August 27, 2012. It has since spawned the very successful single "Counting Stars", which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming their highest-charting hit since "Apologize" also peaked there in 2007. It has also become their biggest hit in the United Kingdom — it topped the charts there for two non-consecutive weeks — and has charted within the top ten in nine countries, including top five placements in Australia, Germany, Ireland and New Zealand. The album's fourth single, "Something I Need", has since been certified Platinum in Australia and Gold in New Zealand, peaking in the top 5 in both countries. As of August 2014, the album has sold 767,000+ copies in the US.

On February 4, 2012, OneRepublic announced via Twitter that their third studio album was scheduled for the fall of 2012 release, and that the band was hoping to release the lead single from the album around April or May 2012. The band stated that they were "not rushing it", saying that the album "has to literally be the best thing we've ever done".

Markos Papadatos of Digital Journal gave the song four and a half stars out of five, saying that it is "upbeat and it has a laid-back summertime vibe to it" and comparing it favorably to Joe Nichols' "Yeah".

The song was released on July 29, 2014 through Lava Records and Republic Records, the label that houses all three artists, and serves as a joint single listing all artist as lead artist. The song is the lead single from Jessie J's upcoming third studio album Sweet Talker (2014) and is also on the deluxe version of Grande's second studio album My Everything, which was released on August 25, 2014.[5] Although set to be released on July 29, the song was leaked a few hours earlier before its scheduled premiere.

"Bang Bang" is a pop, R&B, and soul song backed by "clap-heavy" production, and built over "big bouncy beats and horn blasts." Upon release "Bang Bang" was met with universal acclaim by both audiences and critics who praised Jessie's and Grande's vocals as well as Minaj's rapping. Commercially, the song fared well, debuting at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Jessie's J highest peaking song on the Billboard charts (next to "Domino" in 2012, which also peaked at number six). Jessie was played a demo of the song, which she decided to record. Following her recording, Martin informed her that Grande wanted to record a verse. Minaj later heard the song and jumped on it. Jessie added that "It was like a real females, come together, empowering, supportive [vibe], and then Nicki jumping on it was like the icing on the cake."

On July 9, 2014, Jessie J uploaded a 15-second snippet of the song on her Instagram profile. On July 23, 2014, another snippet of the song was uploaded to an Instagram profile, this time by Minaj. On July 27, Grande uploaded the third and final snippet on her Instagram account.

[starttext]

"Shake It Off" is a song by American recording artist Taylor Swift for her upcoming fifth studio album, 1989. Written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback, the single, a departure from her signature country pop musical style, is an uptempo pop track instrumented by saxophone. The song premiered during a Yahoo! live stream session on August 18, 2014; its music video was also released the same day. Hours later, "Shake It Off" was made available for digital download as the lead single from 1989.

"Shake It Off" was written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback. Produced by Martin and Shellback, it lasts for a duration of three minutes and thirty nine seconds. Musically, "Shake It Off" is an uptempo pop song that scrapped Swift's traditional country pop musical style in her previous releases. It is instrumented by saxophone; Jason Lipshutz from Billboard compared the song's melody to that of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' song "Thrift Shop" (2013). A writer from Music Times, meanwhile, likened the song to Pharrell Williams' "Happy" (2013). Writing for The Hollywood Reporter, Shirley Halperin labelled "Shake It Off" "an uptempo version" of Idina Menzel's version of the Disney song "Let It Go" (2013).[1]

Lyrically, the song is dedicated to Swift's detractors. Swift explained that, "I’ve learned a pretty tough lesson that people can say whatever they want about us at any time, and we cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction to that." In an interview for Rolling Stone, Swift further elaborated, "I've had every part of my life dissected — my choices, my actions, my words, my body, my style, my music. When you live your life under that kind of scrutiny, you can either let it break you, or you can get really good at dodging punches. And when one lands, you know how to deal with it. And I guess the way that I deal with it is to shake it off."

"Break Free" is a song by American recording artist Ariana Grande featuring Russian-German musician and producer Zedd. The song serves as the second single from Grande's upcoming second studio album My Everything. It premiered on July 2, 2014 on Total Ariana Live, MTV's revival of Total Request Live and was released later that day. Musically, the song explores dance-pop, EDM and electropop genres, a musical departure for Grande, whose previous music had been mainly pop and R&B.

In a May 2014 interview during which he talked about "Break Free", Zedd spoke about wanting to collaborate with Grande after hearing her voice for the first time at a Universal showcase. He said, "I was backstage and I heard someone sing. And I didn't know who it was, and I just said 'I want to make a song with whoever is singing right now.' I didn't know who it was, and it turned out being her. And luckily, now there's a song!" Grande first spoke about collaborating on a song with Zedd in late April in an interview with Billboard. She described the song as "fantastic and super-experimental for me" and further stated, "I never thought I'd do an EDM song, but that was an eye-opening experience, and now all I want to do is dance." She later talked about the song at Wango Tango and shared that she wanted it to be the next single. Grande began dropping hints about her second single on social media throughout the month of June but did not confirm that it was her collaboration with Zedd until June 21, at which point she also revealed the song's name. "Break Free" was written by Savan Kotecha, Zedd and Max Martin and produced by the latter two.

"This Is How We Do" is a song recorded by American singer Katy Perry for her fourth studio album, Prism (2013). Perry co-wrote the song with its producers Max Martin and Klas Åhlund and recorded in Stockholm, Sweden. The song was released as the album's fifth single on August 12, 2014. "This Is How We Do" is a dance-pop song, with "faux"-urban and hip-hop infuences, with Perry sing-talking about her hangout routine with her friends.

Music critics gave the song mixed to favorable reviews, with many praising its old-school vibe, calling it the song of the summer, while others criticized its lyrics. Some compared the song to her previous singles, "California Gurls" and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)". A music video for the song was released on July 31, 2014, and it sees the singer getting her nails done, doing karaoke with her friends while wearing outrageous outfits ranging from Yves Saint Laurent's Mondrian dress to a pepperoni pizza swimsuit.

While working on Prism, Perry collaborated in Stockholm to with record producer Max Martin for a few weeks to put "the icing on the cake," as she claimed. In addition, she also worked with Klas Åhlund, among others. Perry has claimed:

"Max has always been incredibly kind to me, he is the most authentic Swedish person I have ever worked with, and he just has an incredible ear for melodies and how they should be, we had so much fun making music together, we get really excited, we like to dance around the studio. He brought me to Stockholm to introduce me to a couple of different musicians, like Klaus Ahlund, I really enjoyed working with them. The different kind of sonic level of music that's been made over in Sweden is very advanced and it's very fresh... they kinda know what is coming first."

About working with Perry, Ahlund stated, "When you move around the planet, the vibe of the place you’re making the music in definitely makes an imprint on whatever you’re writing." While co-producing nine tracks on "Prism", Martin and Åhlund worked together on two tracks: "Walking on Air" and "This Is How We Do". The first was released as a promotional single, while the latter was announced as the album's fifth single, with its lyric video being released on July 24, 2014. "This Is How We Do" was sent to radio stations on August 12, 2014.

Robin McLaurin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014) was an American actor and comedian. Starting as a stand-up comedian in San Francisco and Los Angeles, he soon rose to fame as Mork in the TV series Mork & Mindy (1978–82). Williams went on to establish a successful career in both stand-up comedy and feature film acting.

Williams's film career included such acclaimed films as Popeye (1980),[1] The World According to Garp (1982), Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Awakenings (1990), The Fisher King (1991), and Good Will Hunting (1997), as well as financial successes such as Hook (1991), Aladdin (1992), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Jumanji (1995), The Birdcage (1996), Night at the Museum (2006), and Happy Feet (2006). He also appeared in the video "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin.

Williams was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor three times and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Good Will Hunting. He also received two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Grammy Awards. TV producer George Schlatter, who first saw Williams doing stand-up comedy in 1977 and gave him his first TV spot in Laugh-In, recognized Williams's talent immediately, telling friends and associates that Williams "is gonna be an important force. Not just a talent, but an important force in show business." Terry Gilliam, who directed Williams in two films, was awed by his ability to "go from manic to mad to tender and vulnerable," stating that Williams was "the most unique mind on the planet. There's nobody like him out there."

Williams sometimes suffered from depression and struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for much of his career. On August 11, 2014, he was found dead after committing suicide by hanging at his home in Paradise Cay, near Tiburon, California.

Robin McLaurin Williams was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 21, 1951. His mother, Laurie McLaurin (c. 1923 – September 4, 2001), was a former model from Jackson, Mississippi, whose own great-grandfather was Mississippi senator and governor Anselm J. McLaurin. His father, Robert Fitzgerald Williams (September 10, 1906 – October 18, 1987), who was from a family prominent in Evansville, Indiana, was a senior executive at Ford Motor Company in charge of the Midwest region. He had two brothers: Robert Todd Williams (June 14, 1938 – August 14, 2007) and McLaurin Smith. Williams had English, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, German, and French ancestry. He was raised Episcopalian (while his mother practiced Christian Science), and later authored the comedic list, "Top Ten Reasons to be an Episcopalian."[17]

Williams attended elementary school in Lake Forest, Illinois and began middle school there. His young friends recall him as being very funny. When Williams's father was transferred to Detroit, the family moved from the Chicago area to a 40-room farm house in suburban Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where he was a student at the Detroit Country Day School. He excelled in school and became president of the class. He was on the school's soccer team and wrestling team.[20] In middle school, Williams was bullied and would seek out new routes home to avoid his tormentors. He told jokes to his mother to make her laugh and pay attention to him. Williams spent much of his time alone in the family's large home, playing with his 2,000 toy soldiers. "My only companions, my only friends as a child were my imagination," he said.

Williams's father was away much of the time and, when he was home, Williams found him "frightening". His mother worked too, leaving Williams to be attended to by the maids they employed. Williams claimed his upbringing left him with an acute fear of abandonment and a condition he described as "Love Me Syndrome." When Williams was 16, his father took early retirement and the family moved to Woodacre, California, where he attended the public Redwood High School in nearby Larkspur. When he graduated in 1969, the senior class voted him both "Most Likely Not to Succeed" and "Funniest."

Williams studied political science at Claremont McKenna College (then called Claremont Men's College) in Claremont, California. Williams left Claremont and attained a full scholarship to the esteemed Juilliard School in New York City. In between Claremont and Juilliard, he returned to Marin County and studied theatre for three years at a community college, the College of Marin, where according to drama professor James Dunn, Williams's talent first became evident when he was cast as Fagin in Oliver!.

Williams described himself as a quiet child whose first imitation was of his grandmother to his mother. He did not overcome his shyness until he became involved with his high school drama department.[25] In 1973, Williams was one of only 20 students accepted into the freshman class at Juilliard and one of only two students to be accepted by John Houseman into the Advanced Program at the school that year; the other was Christopher Reeve. William Hurt was another classmate. Williams left Juilliard during his junior year in 1976 at the suggestion of Houseman, who told him, "There's just nothing more we can teach you. So you should go out and work."

"Come Get It Bae" is a song written and performed by American recording artist Pharrell Williams from his second studio album GIRL (2014). The song features uncredited vocals from American recording artist, Miley Cyrus.

"Come Get It Bae" is a funk song, and discusses sex through the metaphor of a motorcycle. The song received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented its overall production, but were ambivalent towards its lyrical content. It was released in the United States as the third overall single from Girl on May 8, 2014. The song has since peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number 108 on the French SNEP.

Williams first collaborated with Cyrus while producing the tracks "4x4" and "Get It Right" for her fourth studio album Bangerz (2013).[1][2] It was announced that Cyrus would appear on Williams' second studio album Girl when its track listing was confirmed on February 25. Their collaboration, "Come Get It Bae", was premiered through iTunes Radio on February 28 during an exclusive streaming of the record before its official release on March 3. "Come Get It Bae" is a funk song with playful beat, which sees the incorporation of a "throbbing bass and handclaps". Williams delivers its verses, while Cyrus sings the chorus and is heard yelling "hey!" throughout the song. The metaphor "you want to ride my motorcycle?" is frequently heard during the chorus; it serves as an innuendo for sex, a recurring theme throughout Girl. The "World of Red Bull" commercial premiered on March 3, 2014, and features a 30-second snippet of "Come Get It Bae". Williams performed the song on Good Morning America on April 7; Cyrus was not present, although her vocals were heard on the pre-recorded backing track.

"No Mediocre" is a song by American hip hop recording artist T.I., featuring a guest appearance from Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. The song, produced by DJ Mustard, was released as the lead single from his upcoming ninth studio album Paperwork: The Motion Picture (2014), on June 17, 2014, through Grand Hustle and Columbia Records.

On November 22, 2013, T.I. announced that he had signed a deal with Columbia Records, to release his upcoming ninth studio album.[2] T.I. revealed he recruited Pharrell Williams to executive produce the LP and planned to release the album in early 2014.

Originally, T.I. had planned to release Trouble Man II: He Who Wears the Crown, a sequel to his 2012 album, but since getting into the studio with the album's executive producer, Pharrell Williams, he changed his mind. He stated: "Since we started working on the project and the project started has taken a different shape, I think we're going to postpone that title. We're gonna rework that. I got a couple of things in mind." He still plans to release the sequel to Trouble Man, however. About the current project:

All I'ma say is, it's gonna be a motion picture, it's gonna be a theatrical-worthy title. Something that will definitely seem instant classic. I'm thinking something like "Trap Champion", "Paperwork", but whatever it is the subtitle will be "The Motion Picture".

On December 16, 2013, it was reported that T.I. decided to name it Paperwork: The Motion Picture.

On June 17, 2014, T.I. released the official lead single from Paperwork, "No Mediocre", which features his protege Iggy Azalea and was produced by West Coast hip hop producer DJ Mustard. T.I. talked about the track on MTV News saying: "For me I think it was something to uplift women. It’s a get-your-sh—together-type of-record". He explained:

It’s denouncing mediocrity, man; all things sub-standard or below average or even moderately average should be set aside, man, and I think it starts internally. You must first have confidence and security within yourself, it goes from the heart, to the mind and then it is conveyed through your actions and your presentation of yourself.

He continued stating that men do not just look at physical attributes, but "social qualities" as well, and deep down "Every person knows what their strengths are, so showcase your strengths and not your weaknesses so much."

"Let It Go" is a song from Disney's 2013 animated feature film Frozen, whose music and lyrics were composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The song was performed in its original show-tune version in the film by American actress and singer Idina Menzel in her vocal role as Queen Elsa. Anderson-Lopez and Lopez also composed a slightly different pop-rock version, which was performed by singer Demi Lovato over the start of the film's closing credits. A music video was separately released for the pop-rock version.

The song presents the ostracized Queen Elsa, who abandons her kingdom when her magical ability to create and control ice or snow is discovered by the public. Up in the mountains, away from confused and suspicious onlookers, Elsa realizes that she no longer needs to hide her abilities, and declares herself free from the restrictions she has had to endure since childhood. She rejoices in finally being able to use her power without fear, without limits, to let it go, and manipulate snow and icicles to create a living snowman and generate a magnificent ice castle for herself.
